We collect information you provide directly to us, including your name, email address, and any estate planning data you choose to store in your Legacy Keeper vault. We also collect usage data such as browser type, pages visited, and interaction patterns to improve our service.

We use the information we collect to:

Provide, maintain, and improve our services
Process transactions and send related information
Send you technical notices, security alerts, and support messages
Respond to your comments, questions, and requests
Monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities

3. Data Security

We take the security of your data seriously. Your estate planning information is stored using industry-standard security measures. Access to your vault data is restricted to authorized personnel and the designees you specify.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

With your explicit consent or at your direction
With professional partners you designate through the platform
To comply with legal obligations or protect our rights
With service providers who assist in operating our platform

4A. AI-Powered Features

LegacyKeeper offers optional AI-powered features that use Google Gemini AI (provided by Google LLC) to assist with estate planning tasks. These features are disabled by default and require your explicit opt-in before any data is sent to Google.

What We Disclose to AI Services

When you enable AI features in your Settings, the following categories of data may be transmitted to Google’s servers for processing, depending on the feature used:

Estate planning and financial data (asset details, beneficiary information, estate valuations)
Legal document content (wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and similar documents)
Medical and health information (as entered in LifeLink or related features)
Personal identifiers (names, dates, relationships)
Document images (uploaded documents processed via OCR)
User-typed prompts and inputs submitted to AI features

Access credentials are not disclosed. Passwords, encryption keys, seed phrases, and other access credentials stored in your Digital Asset Vault are explicitly blocked from transmission to any AI service.

Data sent to Google Gemini is processed via their paid API and is not used by Google to train AI models. Your use of AI features is also subject to the Google Gemini API Terms of Service.

Your Rights Regarding AI Processing

Opt-in only: AI features are disabled by default. You must explicitly enable them in Settings.
Disable at any time: You can turn off AI features in your Settings at any time. Once disabled, no further data is sent to Google.
No automated decision-making: AI features are advisory tools only. No automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects are made based on AI processing (GDPR Article 22).
No sale of data: Sending data to Google for AI processing is not a “sale” of personal information under CCPA. Google processes data solely on our behalf as a service provider.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to access, update, or delete your personal information at any time through your account settings. You may also request a complete export of your data. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@legacykeeper.io.

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Analytics cookies are used only in aggregate to improve service quality.

7. Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
